Here at Prospect we love being part of the local community. Through Prospect Foundation, the part of the business dedicated to giving back, we have already donated over £70,000 to charities including Wokingham In Need, Save the Children, Alexander Devine and many more.
Earlier this year, just before lockdown put the country on pause, we were delighted to donate £10,000 to the Sue Ryder Duchess of Kent hospice in Reading.
The Sue Ryder Duchess of Kent hospice in Reading is a fantastic establishment that looks after people with life-limiting conditions, both in their own homes and at their specialist building in Reading. They also offer excellent support for families too.
Last year the team of angels at Sue Ryder Duchess of Kent hospice cared for someone very close to Prospect’s heart, Carol May.
Devoted mother of one of our owners, Carol was well known by all the Prospect family. A truly inspiring woman that would brighten every room. It was a devastating shock to us all when she was diagnosed with cancer.
The Sue Ryder Duchess of Kent hospice played a huge part in Carol’s final months with us. As a thank you to them and in honour of Carol, we wrote Carol’s story - which you can read here.
Prospect’s £10,000 donation is to be used across a variety of needs for the hospice, including new equipment and nursing costs. A portion of the money has been dedicated to placing a plaque in the garden at the hospice in honour of Carol.
This wonderful hospice is solely run on donations and the heavily rely on the generosity of the public to be able to continue their important work.
Due to covid-19 fundraising has been impossible and the hospice currently has an emergency appeal for additional donations. If you can spare anything, please visit the link below.
