The first step is to chat with a mortgage advisor to get an idea of your budget. Our independent advisors can walk you through your options and help arrange a mortgage in principle. From there, our agents will match you with properties and guide you through viewings. Once your offer is accepted, your solicitor will handle the contracts while your mortgage is finalised, leading you through to completion.
It’s a good idea to ask about the home’s condition, maintenance or history and local area. For more detail, read our guide to the key questions to ask.
Stamp Duty is a tax paid on property purchases in England and Northern Ireland. How much you pay depends on the price and whether you’re a first-time buyer or buying an additional home. First-time buyers pay when a property is priced at £300,000 or above. Most buyers start paying above £125,000. Our mortgage advisors will work out the exact cost for you.
On average, buying a property takes around 12 to 16 weeks. This is from having an offer accepted to completing the purchase. The timescale depends on mortgage approval, solicitors and the chain. You'll have dedicated transaction support to keep things moving.
