This week we’ve been taking a look at the interior trends set to be big in 2019. There are some really exciting and impactful trends on the horizon, bold colours, extravagant prints and vintage furnishings are all predicted to be a hit this year!
Colours to look out for…
Last year it was all about muted colours, but 2019 is screaming out for bolder tones! Rich hues throughout the home can really make the décor ‘pop’ and are great for adding warmth to any room – some of our favourites are vivid reds, statement pinks and deep greens. Intertwine these into your interior with cushions, throws, curtains and other soft furnishings.
Completely contrasting our last trend; black and white! Monochrome is going to be a big hit this year especially when you mix it with some of the bolder tones we’ve spoken about.
Dusty pink was huge in 2018 and set to stay for 2019. Whether you’re using the colour as an accent or for a statement like a sofa, it works beautifully.
Previously, mustard has been seen as too overwhelming, but this year... the bolder, the better! The colour has a connotation of happy and cheerful, so we’d suggest using mustard in smaller rooms to make them seem brighter.
In 2018 it was all about rose gold – door handles, kitchen accessories, dressing tables… but this year it’s all about copper and brass tones. They give a sense of warmth to any room, in particular kitchens and bathrooms.
Prints to shout about…
Just like last year, geometric and floral patterns are going to be big in 2019. They both offer a dramatic presence to any room especially when you opt for bold and contrasting colours with oversized patterns.
Materials for 2019…
Fresh and natural materials are a good one to go for this year – stone, concrete and granite in particular. They give the room a clean and crisp feel whilst providing a serene and relaxed atmosphere, best used in the kitchen and bathrooms and works really well with the copper and brass trend.
We’re very excited that velvet is also here to stay for 2019, adding a touch of luxury to any room. Whether you’re going for a statement velvet sofa or a couple of crushed velvet cushions, it is sure to make an impact.
Furnishings to focus on…
Canopy beds are big this year. Inspired by chic hotels, a canopy bed is the ultimate comfort retreat at the end of a long day. It will never go out of style and fits nicely into most rooms without being overbearing.
Vintage lighting features are a must this year. Opting for exposed lighting or gorgeous vintage pedants will add an element of elegance to any room, try mixing this with the brass/copper trend we mentioned earlier.
Strangely enough ‘trough’ sinks are set to make a comeback this year. Giving a charming, country living look to any bathroom or kitchen, maybe it’s time to invest in a new sink?
One more little tip from us… changing your interior doesn’t have to break the bank! Add cushions, throws, art prints and other accessories to any room to completely give it a refresh in a matter of minutes!
If you’re thinking of selling in the near future, why not take a couple of our tips on board. Although we’d recommend avoiding bold colours on the walls and sticking to mixing up your soft furnishings, this is because buyers like to envisage themselves living in the home they’re viewing so it’s best to keep the walls neutral.
