SPRING onto the market this year

Ahh, Springtime - the days are getting longer, the weather is getting warmer, the flowers are in bloom… and so is the property market!

In this season of new beginnings, it’s time to get your house warmed up for a competitive property market. It is a well known fact that properties look better when they are illuminated in Spring sunshine, so be sure to take full advantage of this!

Take a look at these top tips to prepare your home to SPRING onto the market this year.

Paint your front door

A study by Housebuilder Harron Homes found that 43 per cent of buyers make their minds up about a property within just five minutes of seeing it. The front door will most likely be the first thing they see, which is why it is so important to give it a fresh lick of paint.

Having a freshly painted door will improve your kerb appeal, attracting potential buyers who may pass it on their daily exercise.

Tend to the garden

It’s time to get your green thumb out! Give your garden a good tidy and clear out all the autumnal detritus that may have built up over the colder months.

A well-manicured lawn makes a great first impression, so be sure to mow your lawn regularly and keep your front and back garden in good condition throughout the entire selling process.

It is also worth planting some colourful flowers in vibrant shades and Spring colours to attract potential buyers and make the property more inviting.

Flowers

Speaking of flowers, they are not just for the exterior! A simple bunch of daffodils or bouquet of Spring flowers can brighten up a room and invite the outdoors in.

Prepare for unpredictable weather

Though we’d like to think that Spring brings the promise of better weather, historically it can be quite an unpredictable season in Britain. Then again, what season isn’t unpredictable in the UK?!

Accommodate viewers that might get caught in April showers with an umbrella stand and doormat, and clear plenty of space for shoes to be left at the door on damp days.

Fill your home with great scents

Candles, room sprays and diffusers that evoke the right atmosphere can make a big difference to the way in which buyers perceive a property. It’s time to put away the cosy cinnamon and warm vanilla candles and bring out some zesty, clean and fresh scents that are more synonymous with Spring.

Put the ‘Spring’ in Spring cleaning

Though sunlight is a positive force when it comes to showcasing your property, it can reveal a multitude of sins on dusty surfaces, TV screens, mirrors and unpolished floors. It is therefore important that you get well acquainted with your feather duster and regularly clean those pesky areas that seem to attract dirt!

Clean windows and curtains

The sun can also cast an unflattering light on your windows. You want to bring as much light in as possible, so make sure your windows are free from smudges, smears and marks on all viewings.

It is a good idea to give your curtains or blinds a clean, too. Clear dust and cobwebs, and even take them down for a proper wash, if they need it. You want your window hangings to invite in a light, spring time breeze, without getting dust or dirt everywhere!
