Things to do with the kids this Easter weekend
The arrival of the Easter holidays brings with it the now all too familiar question – how do we keep the kids entertained during national restrictions?
The 12th April looms ahead of us like a dangling carrot: the prospect of booking activities with the children so near, yet so far. Easter weekend is one final hurdle we have to overcome, and coupled with the possibility of adverse weather conditions, it is a tricky obstacle to navigate!
With the weather so unpredictable this year (even for the UK!), we have put together a number of fool-proof Easter activities that can go ahead in the rain, shine, or even snow!
Design a Handprint for the Lexicon Handprint tree
To celebrate the arrival of Spring and the ‘brighter days ahead’, the Lexicon shopping centre in Bracknell are encouraging local children, adults, and artists to come together and help grow a Handprint Tree in Princess Square.
To get involved in this community art project, simply download a handprint template and design it in a way that reminds us all that ‘there will be brighter days ahead’.

Paint some pottery at home
Pottery painting is always a winner, and this is an activity that can be done whatever the weather! The Ugly Duckling in Newbury have been offering paint at home pottery kits all through lockdown and have a range of Easter themed ceramics to help you get into the Easter spirit – including egg cup saucers for your dippy eggs and soldiers!
Grow a sunflower for the PMP sunflower growing competition
The great thing about sunflowers is that they can be kept indoors for the first few weeks, meaning that come rain, shine, or snow, you can get your green thumbs out and plant some sunflower seeds this Easter weekend.
The Property Maintenance People are holding a sunflower competition this summer, and with the winner of the tallest flower being announced in July, it’s time to start growing!
