Living in Farnborough


Farnborough is a quaint residential town surrounded by excellent schools, pubs and parks giving the area a great sense of community. Farnborough is especially popular with families and commuters due to its direct line straight to London Waterloo and its motorway links.

North Camp is a suburb of Farnborough, it covers most of the southern part of the town. North Camp’s train station has a direct link to Gatwick Airport as well as being close to the A331 leading to the M3 and A3.

Mytchett is a family friendly area located 2 miles east of the town centre and also just a 10 minute walk from Frimley Lodge Park, a great area for walking dogs and entertaining children on the newly built climbing frame. Mytchett is also home to King Fisher on the Quay, a highly recommend restaurant that is great for date night.

Ash is a village just outside of Farnborough that offers great places to dine such as ‘The Swan’. Ash has great travel links aiding you to reach Aldershot and surrounding area faster than ever.

Farnborough offers a plethora of independent and state schools, many of which hold Ofsted’s ‘Outstanding’ status.

Kingsmead Shopping Centre is located parallel to the Farnborough Road. The shopping centre has recently been refurbished giving a selection of places to grab a light bite and a tasty drink, Kingsmead also has a Vue Cinema, perfect for a little day trip.

Leisure facilities

Looking for somewhere to keep the little ones busy or stay in shape yourself? Farnborough Leisure Centre is the place for you, the centre offers a wide range of activities and has a host of facilities. The 33 metre swimming pool and ten pin blowing ally are perfect keep the children entertained whilst you keep in shape using fitness classes, gym and tennis courts. When you’re finished have a soak in the sauna and finish off with a light bite from the café.

Why not take a trip down to Aldershot Lido? It’s just a 15 minute journey and there are 3 water slides, diving platform, cafe, sandpit and so much more, you will forget you’re even in England.

Things to do

The Farnborough Air show is a major trade exhibition for the aerospace and defence industries. It is renowned and lives up to expectations every other year. Why not head down?

Maybe its date night or you want to treat a loved one? A night away at the 5-star Hotel and restaurant, The Aviator, would be the best night away ever. With a plush luxury dining experience, drinks on tap and being attentively looked after everything you need to be able to have a relaxed break from the hustle and bustle of life. Perhaps your planning a wedding? The Aviator is a highflying location and venue enabling you to host the most glamorous wedding of the century.

Fleet Ponds is a popular location within Farnborough for everyone from families to the senior community. There are also delightful trickling streams and a stunning opened area with a huge lake that you can have a paddle in.

Head out of town

If you want to venture further afield, why not head into Farnham, an idyllic town on the outskirts of Farnborough. Farnham has plenty of attractions very popular amongst all generations. For those days when the sun hits or the dog is going crazy in need of a walk Frensham pond has a large lake where you can take a dip in the heat and walk around the scenic views.

Transport links


Farnborough is a hot spot for commuters due to the selection of transport links and business districts. Farnborough offers direct links to central London, Reading, Wokingham and Guilford.

Development/Regeneration


Farnborough has many new developments and infrastructure in place to further develop the town. Just on the outskirts of Farnborough, Finch Wood Park is being developed where there are plans to build a huge residential area with serval phases.

Phase 1 will be completed this year, with 1,500 homes being built. Further developments include apartments, coach houses, up to 5 bedroom homes and also a school. The development plans to allow for a 9 mile bike ride from Bracknell to travel through the estate.

Local MP

Farnborough’s MP Leo Docherty, he trained at the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst and served in Iraq and Afghanistan, upon leaving the army he published a book ‘Desert of Death’. Docherty unsuccessfully applied to be conservative party candidate for the party in 2014 and was instead chosen to contest safe labour party and held seat in 2015 in the general election where he came third.
