The local housing market in Wokingham

Our market update in August

August is traditionally one of the quieter months in the property sector, largely due to people enjoying their summer holidays. But with Covid putting a halt to this, people seem to have turned their attention to spending their hard earnt money on buying a bigger property or investing their money into a second home instead.

My recent property market updates have mentioned how busy we’d been since restrictions on lockdown had been lifted and August has been no different! We’ve registered a record number of buyers and we had our biggest sales month of the year so far. In fact, this has been the busiest August on record since we opened!

The great news for buyers who are yet to find their next home, is that we are still valuing close to 20 properties a week which is then resulting in more properties coming to the market. The huge influx of quality buyers that we have registering also isn’t letting up, so although we have lots of new homes coming to the market, we definitely need more.

The market is a buoyant as I’ve ever experienced it personally and whether you’re looking to buy or sell, there has never been a better time to so!

Why Wokingham is a great place to live!

The charming town of Wokingham is regularly voted as one of the best and most affluent areas to live in the UK. When you discover what this attractive market town has to offer, you will have no doubts as to why.

With roots dating back to the mid-12th century, Wokingham still boasts a wealth of historical buildings throughout the town. This includes the Grade I listed, Henry Lucas Hospital; the 15th Century Overhangs and the Town Hall, which was rebuilt in 1858 over the old Constable’s quarters and police cells.

Not only is Wokingham home to numerous historic buildings, the town is also undergoing a multi-million pound redevelopment project to revitalise Wokingham town centre.

There are also a number of highly commended schools, including The Holt, Emmbrook, Walter’s and St Paul’s C of E. The town centre provides a wide variety of high street names, independent shops, pubs, cafés as well as Wokingham Theatre and much more.
