Prospect were delighted to visit COATS’s (Crowthorne Old Age to Teen Society) refurbished premises on Pinewood Avenue to make a donation and see the wonderful work they do to improve older people’s livelihoods and create a bridge of compassion and appreciation between the generations.
COATS has worked in Crowthorne for over 50 years to promote the welfare of senior citizens. Their aim is to provide companionship for these important members of our community through activities and lunches.
Older people can visit COATS for an affordable 2 course lunch in the company of one another. Entertainment is provided, including song, dance and other activities.
COATS gets its name from its ambition to involve young people in volunteering and helping the elderly. Teenagers and young people contribute towards COATS by helping in the charity’s shop on Crowthorne High Street selling donations like jewellery, handbags, clothes, toys, CDs, DVDs, books and more. They also provide assistance at the Centre itself, for instance with cooking, serving meals and entertaining.
Impressed by COATS’s unquantifiable contributions towards older people’s welfare, Prospect are glad to have made a donation and look forward to seeing what exciting projects COATS work on next.
